Summary

TrueRun is a running analytics app that analyses your runs entirely on your iPhone. It has no user accounts, uses no servers, and does not collect, send, sell or share any personal data. There is no analytics, no advertising and no tracking in the app.

Who we are

TrueRun is made by Mateusz Wyszogrodzki, a private individual in Łódź, Poland, who is the controller for the purposes of the GDPR. For any privacy question, write to contact@truerun.app.

If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to reply, and delete them once the matter is settled, unless the law requires us to keep them longer. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering you (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

Apple Health data

With your explicit permission, TrueRun reads workout and health data from Apple Health (HealthKit): running workouts, routes, distance, active energy, heart rate, resting heart rate, VO2 max, step count (for cadence) and running form metrics. It also reads the type, duration and active energy of your other recent workouts, such as rides or strength sessions, to judge your recovery before the next run.

  • Read-only. TrueRun never writes to, changes or deletes anything in Apple Health.
  • On your device only. Health data is processed and stored only on your iPhone. It is never uploaded to us or to anyone else. The app sends nothing to any server of ours, and we have no way to see it.
  • You control access. You grant access during setup and can review or withdraw it at any time in Settings, Privacy & Security, Health, TrueRun.
  • No advertising, marketing or data mining. Health data is used only to show your own analytics, trends, records and summaries in the app.

No account, no collection, no tracking

TrueRun has no sign-in and no accounts. It does not collect your name, email address, device identifiers, location or usage data. It contains no analytics, crash reporting, advertising identifiers or third-party SDKs. If you have turned on Share With App Developers in iOS, Apple may share crash reports and aggregated usage statistics with us. They do not identify you, and we use them only to fix problems and improve the app. Your runs and health data never leave your iPhone through TrueRun. To draw route maps, the app requests map images for the area shown from Apple Maps, so Apple receives that map area but not your runs or health data. Apple handles these requests under its own privacy policy.

Exporting your data

You can export a run as a GPX file, or all of your TrueRun data as a JSON file. The file is made on your iPhone and goes only where you send it, for example through the share sheet. We never receive a copy. Once you share it, the app or service you chose handles it under its own terms.

Purchases

TrueRun is a one-time purchase in the App Store. Apple handles the payment under its own terms and privacy policy. TrueRun never receives your payment details. There are no subscriptions or in-app purchases.

This website

truerun.app is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. To deliver the pages and protect the site, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address on our behalf, as our processor. Cloudflare is a US company, so this data may be processed outside the EU, under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the EU standard contractual clauses.

We count visits with Plausible Analytics, running on our own server. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and does not identify you or follow you across sites. It records the page you open, the site that sent you, your country, your device type, browser and operating system, and whether you click an App Store link or our email address. Your IP address is used only to work out your country and to tell visits on the same day apart, and is never stored. We see this data only as totals and keep it for as long as the site exists.

For both, the legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website and knowing how many people visit (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). You can object at any time by writing to contact@truerun.app.

The App Store links take you to Apple, where Apple’s privacy policy applies.

Children

The TrueRun app collects no data from anyone, including children.

Your rights

All app data stays on your iPhone, so we hold no app data about you to access, correct, export or delete. Deleting the app removes its data from your iPhone, and you can withdraw Health access at any time in Settings. For any personal data we do hold, such as your emails to us, the GDPR gives you the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port it, to object to its processing, and to complain to a data protection authority (in Poland, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, UODO). Write to contact@truerun.app with any request.

Changes

If the way TrueRun handles data ever changes, we will update this page and its date before the change takes effect.
